In awarding the contract for construction of the Clyde Dam to the Zublin-Williamson joint venture, the Government detailed the following contract works:
- Construction of the concrete dam and spillway. The dam was to have a crest height above the existing water level of around 60 metres, a crest length of nearly 500 metres, and would contain 800,000 cubic metres of concrete, 650,000 cubic metres of which would be placed by the contractor.
- Preparation and consolidation grouting of the foundation of the left abutment, and the central part of the dam and spillway.
- Curtain grouting and drilling of relief drains.
- Fabrication, erection and painting of steel penstocks for four generating sets, and concrete-encased steel for the other two sets, involving about 1350 tonnes of steel.
- Painting and installation of gates, screens and bulkheads, including frames and lifting equipment.
- Production of concrete aggregate.
The Government said the Ministry of Works would provide two 12.5 tonne cableways, a concrete batching plant with four, three-cubic-metre batching units and two tower cranes.
